We were lucky Bill, Francis Nicholls had their own canteen. We used to chat up Dereck who ran the mushroom pitch to pinch a mushroom out of each basket to go with the eggs and bacon. Dereck was an amature magician and I bought his old Dinner Jacket. I’d love to say I found three pigeons and a rabbit sown in the lining but that would be stretching it a bit too far.
