Talking about St Mary’s Terrace in the years just afer the war, reminds me of “Life on the Ocean Wave.

I have noticed a few different nicknames for this now (Health and Safety banned Recreational playground device of the past)

“The witches Hat” seems the most popular we had two of these in close proximity to my childhood home in Nursery Street, one was on the side of Faulkland Patch at the rear of St Mary’s Terrace, of Stafford Street.
The other further down Stafford Street in Red Hill Street, where the school clinic was later built in 1960’s.

Well for the record – The correct name was ‘Burton’s double grip Ocean Wave’, and was made by Burton and Delingpole Limited, of Old Hill.
