I have a nice little picture here from the past at a time when top class footballer’s such as these, while enjoying the admiration of their working class neighbours, would have been embarrased by the Hollywood hype and celebrity status heaped on the players of today.

So how do I connect this photo with the last post of Busby Babes. Well, we have it all here; do you recall, I mentioned Charity? which of course this is what this team was all about; and also League titles and the F.A Cup. Well, many will have guessed the connection already.
On the back row is Bilston born, Bill Shorthouse and seated on the Front Row is a unique combination of Albion’s Johnny Nicholls and the other Wolves great, Jimmy Mullen.
Nicholls of course in 1954, won a F.A. Cup winners medal with Albion, while Mullen and Shorthose were in the glorious Wolves team that pipped Albion for the League title, winning the trophy for the time in that same year.
The full list of the All Stars Pictured are:
Back row: L-R. A. Slyde, R. Corbett, Malcolm Finlayson, S.Lynn, L. Crowther, and Bill Shorthouse
Front row: L-R D. Pace, G. Meakin, J. Nicholls, G.Summers, and Jimmy Mullen.
If any “Old Wuffler” out there has any more information on the other players in the photo please post it on the forum
I agree with a lot of what peoples comments are that I am reading here.
