Steve looking for lost pubs

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has any information or photographs of two pubs that no longer exist.

The Steelhouse Tavern in Steelhouse Lane and The Invincible Inn in Duke Street, both of these pubs were run by my Great Grandfather Thomas Henry Parkes but I’ve been unable to locate any photographs on any internet sites.

We used to have one guy who’s reason detre was Wolverhampton pubs and wrote wrote a few articles, I’m sure Bill Howe could point you in the right direction. Regards.

Hi Stephen, We have one of the Invincible! My Great Grandparents are stood outside of it possibly with your Great Grandparents and a young lad, it must be from before 1907

Thanks for the reply, it would be great to see the image.

My Great Grandfather was listed on the 1911 census and the 1912 Kelly’s Directory as been at the Invincible at 42 Duke Street.

Also information I’ve had from the brewery, although no images, is on 15th June 1911 the Tenant had been summoned for permitting drunkenness in the pub, on the 30th June the summons was dismissed.
