There is a 60 th celebration at Engelberg care home on Saturday 25 th April 2026. 12-3pm. All relatives of John Andrew Bates and Blanche are invited. I am struggling to get in touch with anyone local. Please tell relatives and go if you can. Sue Ward nee Edwards nee Easthope, nee Bates.

Gillian Baker spoke and asked about your family before she died 18 months ago. She was daughter of Cyril Baker and Enid Gardner and actually died in Engleberg nursing home, the MHE gifted by John Bates in memory of his wife Blanch nee Holland.

Yes. Although Henry Baylis did marry again, Lily Anderton (nee Easthope) brought up Vera and had a close relationship till death. Vera, Lillian (then Ward) and her husband Bob Ward all died within 3 weeks of each other in 2005.

I just noticed this post about the Travellers Rest. Mom told me my grandad, Ernest EDWARDS a J P and NUR man used to spend much of his time and money there. Have you ant photos? Ernest lived at Stormor on Park Lane and died 1952.

Would the Masters shop have been a Radio and Eletrical shop? If so Mom worked with their daughter Ada (m. Gray) in the shoe shop and they remained friends till Ada died in 2003. Moms shop was on Victoria Street- Easthopes. I’m not sure where Wolverhampton Road and Wednesfield Roads change their name!
