    Is one of the streets Powlett Street? (the one on the left of the photo).

    Yes Maggie the street on the left is indeed Powlett Street

    Roy Shelley gave us the correct solution The Melbourne Arms and the ring road and Maggie is correct with Powlett Street.

    Yes Roy, The Melbourne Arms, Dudley Road.and of course the Ring Road – Actually phase one started in 1960. At the junction of Church Lane and Melbourne Street. It was 475yards in length and finished on Penn Road at the junction of Poole Street and Merridale Street, in 1961.Main Casualties the loss of St Pauls Church and Church Lane.

    My mum worked at Craddock’s offices in Powlett street in the mid-sixties.
    Does anyone remember the murder that took place in the office building in about 1963?
    I’m not sure of the detail, but I think one of the staff was stabbed by her ex-partner.

    Working on this one Maggie I remember Craddocks large works on the corner of Vane Street.Powlett Street But I don’t recall the murder.
