Sorry – I should have said a little about myself. I am married to an old Wolverhampton man – Tommy Riggs from Hawthorne Road (Fighting Cocks) who left the Express and Star for the Telford area  to work at the Shropshire Star in the 1960’s. He and some old school pals were having a ‘discussion’ about where the fairground was. The only old map of Wolves that I could find was 1901, when the fairground area was still all houses, so that didn’t help. I discovered that the fair (Collins) was held on the old market place near St Peters until 1947 then moved to the Brick Kiln site, but couldn’t find exactly where that was, so asked your help. Many thanks so far for the info – an interesting discussion already.
