Hello Jane. Yes I remember the McNally’s they were scattered all a round North Street . From the time they came from Ireland in the mid 1850’s until the 1950’s 60’s when the bulldozers moved in. I wonder are you related to Philip Howe wh in the late 1960s, emigrated to Australia. I knew Philip well and he came to my wedding in 1961 in Wolverhampton. I have lost touch with him, but would love to hear from him again. Is he still in Australia, or has he moved.? I look forward to hearing from you. -

A great pic of the ‘patch’.My first job when l left school in ’62 was at Peel st. motors shown in pic..washing cars 4 pounds a week. 10-5pm. the market was built then. Used to go over the cafe and get a pot of tea for the sales men.had a few characters around but didn’t see any ‘monsters’ ,,,
Yes, I recall it had a short life. Nothing much left of Peel Street from the start of the 60s The ring-road but paid to that.
